Alicia Jenkins

Alicia Jenkins

Alicia Jenkins began her dance studies at the age of two in Parksville, BC. After joining the recreational program at a young age she fell in love with the art of dance. At the age of eight is when Alicia started in the performing arts program on Vancouver Island. As the passion grew, she auditioned for the pre-professional youth senior dance company, "Helix Dance Theatre” . Dancing six days a week was not enough for this dancer. Alicia started to teach and assist as many classes as she could.  In June 2016, Alicia graduated from high school and wanted to take dance further. She then auditioned for many post secondary programs and went off to Winnipeg, MB to dive deeper into ballet and contemporary dance in “The Professional Division of The School for Contemporary Dancers”, for a year and a half.  In April, the year of 2018 is when Alicia auditioned for Lamon Dance in hopes of getting the chance to expand her dance vocabulary. Growing up, Jenkins knew she wanted nothing but dance. She had and has the opportunities to experience  different auditions, training intensives, dance seminars, masterclasses, shows, and professional atmospheres. she is ready to be challenged more. Alicia is a young, driven dancer who enjoys inspiring and moving not only the audience but her fellow dancers. She looks forward to learning and adding to her artistry with Lamondance. 

 
Jessica Shigetomi

Jessica Shigetomi

Jessie Shigetomi started dancing at the age of 5 with her first class being Ballet. Over the years she has studied many other dance styles and has grown a love for all of them. In her high school years she danced at The DanceLAB Studios - her years at DanceLAB she was dancing many different genres to further her technique and vocabulary in this art, but started to grow a strong love for Contemporary dance. After graduating high school she moved to Montreal to study at Concordia University in the Contemporary Dance Program. There she had many choreography and performing opportunities but also got to learn the history behind contemporary and as well as other genres of dance and forms of art. Jessie looks forward to be dancing back in her community with other young artists and learning from the great choreographers that are brought into Lamondance.

 
Agustin Gomes

Agustin Gomes

Agustin began dancing & training at the age of 18 at Centro de Artes Pas de Quarte where he received a full scholarship to study ballet with Luis Ruben Gonzalez, Recife – PE having the opportunity to perform Don Quixote and La fille mal guardeé. Later, joined Monique Paes jazz group where he improved his jazz skills. Then become the soloist at Instituto Marco de Dança, and it is where he remains to study ballet and contemporary.

Agustin is looking forward to starting his training with Lamondance season 10.

Kluane Thompson Peabody

Kluane Thompson Peabody

Kluane started dancing with The Dance Umbrella at age five, and then later joined Slava Doval's Dancefusion and Front Street Dance in Nelson BC. She started her dance studies with hip hop and jazz, and then began ballet and contemporary at the age of eleven. She has been been training in ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, pointe, and partnering for six years now, and is excited to be part of the Lamondance family in season 10. 

 
Camila Silva

Camila Silva

Originally from Colombia, Camila Silva studied Chemical Engineering and dance simultaneously. She started dancing as a hobby when she was 14 years old and it soon became her passion. She has studied ballet, contemporary and jazz. She has danced with the contemporary Company DT and Jazz company Studio 5. 

 She attended a Limon technique workshop with Daniel Fetecua, who was a dancer performing for Jose Limon’s Company. Also, she attended contemporary dance classes with Pedro Romero in Centro artístico de dança in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.  Since 2016 She has been taking ballet classes with Suzanne Limbruner, who is a former Miami City ballet dancer.

Camila is very excited to join season 10th of Lamondance and pursue her dreams of becoming a professional dancer.

 
Keira Douet

Keira Douet

Keira began dancing at the young age of 2 and started training in contemporary at age 11. She trained in a competitive company at Pulse Dance Centre for 5 years and trained in ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, lyrical as well as acrobatics and musical theatre. Through the company program she was given the opportunity to compete across B.C. and the United States. She is looking forward to the next 2 years of training at Lamondance.

 
Mateus Luiz

Mateus Luiz

Mateus was born in Brasília-Brazil in 1998. He began his studies in theater at age 8, at age 14 he had his first contact with dance.
He graduated, at age 19, in ballet, contemporary dance and jazz at the Spinelli Dance School in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2018, he was a finalist at the YAGP in New York-USA.
He participated in competitions such as Passo de Arte, Danzamerica, International Dance Festival of Joinville, International Dance Seminar of Brasilia, among others.

He is looking forward to starting his new dance approach with Lamondance.

Amy Staples

Amy Staples

Amy was born and raised in Lethbridge, AB. She started her training at Joy’s Dance Factory. Amy participated in numerous competitions in both Canada and The United States. She attended the Okanagan Summer Dance Intensive in 2014 and 2015. In 2016 Amy joined Ballet Victoria for two seasons as an aspirant; with Ballet Victoria, Amy performed in eight main stage productions as well as touring across Canada and the United States. Amy is fascinated in the blending of classical and contemporary movement and the possibilities that it offers. Amy is thrilled to be entering her first season with Lamondance.

 
Madeleine Martin

Madeleine Martin

Madeleine started dance at the age of two in Surrey, BC. From kindergarten to Grade 12, Madeleine received her classical and modern dance training at Mi-Cher Dance Academy, under the tutelage of Cheryl Gedert, Catherine Potoky and Karrie Hill. Madeleine also participated in the Royal City Youth Ballet’s rendition of the Nutcracker every Christmas for 6 years, and became a lead chorus dancer in her high school’s production of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying. She has also had opportunity to participate in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Alberta Ballet and RCYB's summer intensives. After graduating high school Madeleine moved to Toronto for 2 years to participate in the Dance Performance Programme with George Brown Dance and Canada’s Ballet Jorgen. With GBC she had the opportunity to work with many talented teachers and choreographers, like Hannah Keil, Louis Laberge-Cote, Suzie Burpee and Derek Sangster. As well as earning herself a spot on the programmes honor role list and a diploma in Dance Performance. Madeleine is super exited and honored to be part of the 10th season of Lamondance.

 
Gregory Jungco

Gregory Jungco

Greg began dancing & training at the age of twelve at Pulse Dance Centre in Port Coquitlam. While studying genres such as Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, and Musical Theatre, he also danced competitively at many local competitions, national conventions, and international competitions. He was apart of Canada’s National Dance Team in 2014 and travelled out to Poland competing under the Ballet, Jazz, and Modern Divisions, and was also apart of the TELUS Youth Mentor Project in 2017. Nearing the end of his studio life, he was also named the Provincial Winner in the Senior Modern Division at the 2018 BC Provincial Performing Arts Festival and was a Top 11 Finalist at Break the Floor’s “Dance Awards”. Greg is truly thankful for all the support from his dance teachers, friends, and family, and is very thrilled and excited to start his journey with Lamondance and cannot wait for what Season 10 has to offer. 

Natasha Pavan

Natasha Pavan

Natasha has been dancing since she was 5 years old, and has graduated from Pulse Dance Centre. Natasha is trained in multiple different styles of dance and has been dancing competitively since the age of 8. She has recently completed her Advanced 1 ISTD Modern Exam. Natasha has also been student teaching younger dancers in acro, jazz, lyrical, and tumbling for over 5 years. This year Natasha will be training at Lamondance for their 10th season to continue following her dream to become a professional dancer.

 
Elisse Beckett

Elisse Beckett

Elisse began her dance training at the age of 4 at RNB Dance & Theatre Arts. She has trained extensively for the past 13 years in Ballet, Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip-hop, and this past year in Voice.   At age 13 she was accepted into the Peak Performance Half-day program at RNB and it was then that she began to realize she wanted a career in dance performance.   In 2016, Elisse travelled to New York City with a group of dancers from RNB and attended classes at the Broadway Dance Centre.  In November 2017, Elisse competed at the World Showdance Championships in Germany with Team Canada.   In 2018 Elisse was named Provincial Representative for Modern III at Chilliwack Lions Festival and received Honourable Mention, top 5, at Provincials in Victoria, B.C.    She has completed her ISTD modern and RAD ballet examinations up to Advanced 1,  and was awarded with Distinction.  Elisse has been awarded numerous scholarships and special awards over the years from the Surrey Festival of Dance.  Last year, she had a very memorable competition season as she received 1st place at least once for 6 of her solos in various genres.

Elisse is very excited to start her journey with Lamondance for their 10th season!

 
Hayley Galati

Hayley Galati

Hayley began dancing recreationally at the age of three starting with ballet and jazz classes. It wasn't until the age of thirteen, when Hayley discovered her love and passion for dance and decided to further her training at Pulse Dance Centre. Here, she studied many different genres of dance including jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, modern, hip hop, and musical theatre. She has trained in ISTD modern, as well as Royal Academy of Dance ballet, earning Distinction on her exams. Hayley has competed locally and internationally with a highly competitive team, as well as a soloist, winning a variety of top ten placements, highest scoring solo awards, and scholarships. She has attended numerous dance conventions, masterclasses, and has performed on many different platforms sharing her love of dance with other artists around her. Hayley is thrilled to be with Lamondance season 10 and is looking forward to the next two years.

Hannah Sim

Hannah Sim

From North Vancouver, BC, Hannah has been dancing since the age of 4. She studied RAD ballet, contemporary, ISTD modern, ISTD tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop at RNB Dance. Hannah choreographed her first piece in 2016 for kids ages 7-9. She began training with Lamondance season 9 in 2017, where she found her true passion for contemporary dance. Dancing with Lamon gave her the opportunity to work amongst many great choreographers and grow as a dancer. Hannah is excited to continue her training with Lamondance again for season 10.

 
Afonso Carlos Gomes Junior

Afonso Carlos Gomes Junior

From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Afonso is a graduate of Dimensione Danza Dance Acadamy where he studied all genres of dance.  Afonso took part in a flash mob celebrating the 50 years of Rede Globo (Brazilian TV Channel) and also on NBC CHANNEL (American program). He has furthered his dance studies through many classes at Broadway dance center and Alvin Ailey. Afonso´s performance highlights have included many Brazilian festivals, through Solo and group  Awards, and also Rio Olimpic and Paraolimpic Games 2016, as a professional dancer.  Afonso is appreciative of the support from his parents and teachers and is thrilled to be training with Lamondance this season. 

Marie Taylor

Marie Taylor

Born and raised in Nanaimo BC, Marie fell in love with dance from a young age. After dancing recreationally and competitively for many years she realized that in order to move forward with dance many sacrifices had to be made. In grade 10 Marie began homeschooling in order to work privately with a dance coach and mentor to strengthen her ballet technique. After one year of hard work in her hometown, she was accepted into the Dedicated Contemporary Dance Stream at Alberta Ballet School, in Calgary, Alberta. After 2 years of training there Marie graduated in 2017. Following graduation Marie began the final steps in her dance training at Lamondance in Season 9. It has always been Marie’s dream to be a professional dancer and she is so excited that Lamon has become such an important part in that journey. She knows that season 10 will continue to inspire her, and allow for that dream to become a reality. 

Caroline Kiddie

Caroline Kiddie

Caroline began studying dance at the age of three at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, beginning with recreational ballet and modern dance. Later at the age of ten she realized her passion for dance and started to train at Dance Collective, formerly known as Douglas Ballet Academy. From then onwards she trained in several different types of dance including ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and jazz. At the age of twelve Caroline began to take part in competitions for both group and solo pieces, locally and internationally, winning many gold medals, scholarships, trophies and Top Ten awards; competing with ballet and contemporary solos at YAGP in Seattle, 2015-17, was a highlight.

Caroline has found that she is most passionate about contemporary and ballet and wishes to one day pursue a career in a professional contemporary company. She looks forward to her two years of training at Lamondance and the opportunities that it will bring.

Lazaro Silva

Born in Sergipe/Aracaju, Brazil, Lazaro started his career at the age of 21 years old in the “Universidade Federal de Sergipe” looking for an art career he found his place with the dance world. He was invited by the university to dance with the group, which represent the “The dance art” at the university. Because of his love for the art of dance, he got offered a scholarship by one of his teachers from the University to upgrade his dancing.

To keep enhancing his studies, he went to “Seminário Internacional de dança de Brasilia” in 2016, and he got the scholarship to with Lamondance season 8/9. 
Lazaro is looking forward to enjoying this fantastic time with Lamondance learning and collaborating with different choreographers and dancer as well experiencing a new culture.
