About the show
Lamondance Presents ‘Triple Bill’: A Dynamic Fusion of Dance Voices Uniting Artistic Director Davi Rodrigues, creator of “Kauã” and guest choreographer Ben Green, the creator of “Crater” and guest choreographer Kirsten Wicklund, the creator of "A Most Dominant Wavelength.”
A CRATER. A pit. A void. We are all on the outside, walking the border and looking in. What does it mean to exist on the edge? How does our proximity to the vast, mysterious crater affect our relationship with intimacy and connection? CRATER researches the sensation of touch, manipulation of time, and the malleability of the gaze. In a world rife with division and conflict, how can a group find agreement and surrender to one another? Is it possible to yield to each other with our eyes closed? Can we find trust on the edge?
"A Most Dominant Wavelength," inspired by Shakespeare’s beautiful words. This piece shows strong feelings of love and longing, using dance to express emotions from the heart. You’ll feel the passion and feelings through the dancers' movements.
Kauã - Meaning "Big Hawk" in Tupi-Guarani, celebrates the vibrant essence of Brazilian indigenous culture, which fades with each passing day, at risk of becoming a legend. This dance honours the grace of the Araruna, a bird that symbolizes beauty and the fragility of nature. By showcasing this rich heritage, we aim to foster appreciation and respect for the cultural treasures while reminding us of the importance of preserving these traditions.
